THE GOOD SHEPHERD

Shepherd of the Sheep
"I am the good shepherd" (John 10:11)

One day, David the king, a young Hebrew boy, was helping his father Jesse in his flock business and finding pasture in the hot Palestine desert. He was diligent and dedicated to his father's flock as he took care of them as best as he could. Suddenly, a ferocious lion emerged from the bush nearby and grabbed one of the sheep. David, the boy went after the lion and killed it and saved that sheep.

At another time, a bloody-thirsty bear came as well attacking this same set of sheep. It grabbed one of the robust rams. David the boy again displayed bravery as he strangled the beast. A shepherd's task is very challenging and scary. Sheep are inured to wandering and attacks by predators. It's the shepherd's duty to track his sheep and bring them back to the fold when they stray and will be safe from predators of all sort. A shepherd also keeps the maranders at bay.

Jesus said as I quote,  "I am the good shepherd" in the book of John 10:11. He is also the great Shepherd of the sheep (Hebrew 13:20). Jesus cares for ALL that surrenders their lives to Him as they become His sheep. In the Jewish religion, sheep were bred for religious sacrifices.

Ironically, Jesus was not just a Shepherd, He was the Lamb of God that died for your sins, our sins, the sins of the world. How do we acknowledge that?  By allowing Him access to your life and in dwells you by His Holy Spirit.  He will include you among His sheep, and He will care for you like the shepherd cares for his sheep.

John 10: 11
KJV: I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep

Amplified Version : I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd risks and lays down His [own] life for the sheep.
