TRAGEDY OF THE GREEDY ; CONSECRATION FOR VICTORY
"Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant" (Joshua 7:11)
Victory is always sweet to the victor, but defeat can be degrading for the conquered. After conquering many formidable enemy nations, Israel suffered a defeat in a small town called Ai. Why? Isn't it it fascinating to know why a reigning champion lost to the least expected? So, back to the question. Why? The Bible says Israel hath sinned (Joshua 7:11). How did it all happened?
Achan stole devoted treasures which God warned them not to touch. The entire congregation was punished because of the sin of just one man. This should be a warning to you not to have fellowship with sinners or be in league with them, lest you share in their guilt. (Hebrew 12:15).
Your misdemeanor can bring disaster on the entire family. The misbehavior of one student can bring untold anguish on the entire school population. The indiscretion of one politician can bring calamity upon a whole country. Until Israel, led by Joshua, prayerfully identified and punished Achan, they could not proceed to claim the Promised land. When a child of God gives room for sin, he makes way for the enemy to enter into his life. Flee from every appearance of evil.
Joshua 7:11
KJV: Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.
Amplified Version: Israel has sinned; they have transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. They have taken some of the things devoted [for destruction]; they have stolen, and lied, and put them among their own baggage.
CHALLENGE: DECIDE TO LIVE ABOVE SIN. SIN IS OF THE DEVIL BUT YOU'RE OF GOD.
Bloggers Review: We in the dispensation of grace lives under a better covenant established on better promises by Christ Jesus. By this great covenant, our sins and iniquities are all forgotten of the Lord. We justify not ourselves but by God's love and purpose for us, He justifies us in Christ Jesus by His sacrifice on the cross and by His precious blood. So in this, we've no reason to be entangled with sin. Promises in Christ Jesus hath got us covered, so we dwell and abide in Christ and we live for God. The love of God for us are much more than the sands counted all together the Bible says. Live in Christ, live for God.
SIN DOES NOT PAY!
