How Rapturable are you? A must Read!
There’s no greater fear-eliciting subject in Christian theology than that of the rapture. Mention it..it’ll bring momentary sobriety to the minds of men. It has been the subject of many ‘visions’. Bestselling books have been spawned on its account. Every once in a while, ‘serious’ ministers must hammer on the subject ending with the admonition to ‘remain rapturable’.
So, how rapturable are you? What even is the rapture? The word doesn’t even exist in scriptures. Nonetheless, the concept of it is definitely taught with words like ‘resurrection, quickening’ etc. Let’s see how this works so we know how rapturable a man is. 1 Corinthians 15:20-26, ‘But now is Christ risen from the dead, [and] become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man [came] death, by man [came] also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. Then [cometh] the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy [that] shall be destroyed [is] death.’ The rapture is the destruction of death’s hold on the human body.
Let’s study further. 1 Corinthians 15:41-55 [There is] one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for [one] star differeth from [another] star in glory. So also [is] the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam [was made] a quickening spirit. Howbeit that [was] not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man [is] of the earth, earthy: the second man [is] the Lord from heaven. As [is] the earthy, such [are] they also that are earthy: and as [is] the heavenly, such [are] they also that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal [must] put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where [is] thy sting? O grave, where [is] thy victory? The putting on of immortality by the quickening in the second Adam.
How then will a man BECOME RAPTURABLE? Romans 8:11, ‘But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.’ The quickening of the mortal body, the rapture is by the indwelling of the Spirit. Romans 8:9, ‘But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.’ The believer has the Spirit of Christ. Ephesians 1:13-14, ‘In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.’
A man receives the Spirit upon believing. And the Spirit is the EARNEST (down payment) UNTO (towards) the redemption of the purchased possession. So how rapturable is a man? He is as rapturable as the indwelling of the Spirit. And how long will be Spirit stay for? John 14:16-17, ‘And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; [Even] the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.’ Glory to God!
No believer would miss it.. The ingredient for the rapture resides within! The only man who needs to become rapturable is the man who is yet to believe the Gospel. When he does he receives the Spirit. So today, how rapturable are you?
Confession
I was born rapture ready. I have boldness in that day.
