A BARRIER TO SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS

"Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servants pass on before us... but stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God." (1 Samuel 9:27)

Do you ever wonder why people fail in life endeavors? Prophet Samuel's counsel to young Saul above shows that some friendship can be unhelpful. The servant, if allowed, could have become a serious distraction.

There are so many Christians today who would have advanced far beyond their current spiritual status in Christ but for their continued association with some persons, habits or specific secular engagements. Similarly, many youngsters remain bound in sin today. They could have been saved had they separated from some particular friends, relatives, philosophies or habits.

Often, such relationships may be useful in some pecuniary sense, yet our spiritual blessings maybe encumbered by them. Don't swap your blessings! The restraining influence of such relationships is parallel to presence of the servant who was a valuable assistant to Saul yet deep spiritual mysteries must be denied him except and until he separated himself.

1 Samuel 9:27
KJV: And as they were going down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on,) but stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God.

Amplified Version: And as they were going down to the outskirts of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us--and he passed on--but you stand still, first, that I may cause you to hear the word of God.

CHALLENGE: SHUN RELATIONSHIPS THAT HINDER YOUR SPIRITUAL ADVANCEMENT.

Bloggers Review: God has promised to be unto us a Father and He has also promised never to leave us or forsake us. Such a mighty promise we have from God Almighty. But there's a condition for that, the bible says also that you must come out from among them...  among folks that hinders you from minding the things of God. Until you forsake your old deeds, you cannot embrace the new ones. No man that war, entangle himself with the affairs of this world to please he that calls him to a war.
